FAQ

You’ve Got Questions—We’ve Got Answers

  • What programs do you offer and how does my child have to be to play?
Howell South LL has programs for little league baseball for boys and girls of all ages. From those who are 4 years old by August 31st who can play in our T-Ball division to our Senior Division at 16 years old, there is a spot for everyone! While we do not offer softball, we encourage both boys and girls to join HSLL!
  • Do I have live in the Ramtown Section to play at Howell South?
Typically Howell South LL is for those residents in the Ramtown and surrounding area of Howell. If you are not sure which league to register with, please click on the league finder button at the bottom of this page to find out which league your child should register with.
  • How long is the season?
Our Spring ball season usually starts in mid-March for practices and the season begins in early/mid April and ends in early June. Following this regular season, certain divisions will participate in playoffs. Howell South LL also participates in several All Star tournaments after the Spring season. This can last far into the Summer depending on how the team does. Our Fall ball season typically runs from the 2nd week of September through late October.
  • How many games will my child play?
During Spring ball, games are normally 1-2 times a week as well as Saturdays. Team practices are scheduled by each team's coach. During Fall ball, games are normally held 1-2 times a week as well as Sundays. Team practices are scheduled by each team's coach.
  • Does my child need his/her own equipment?
Yes, we encourage each player to have his/her own equipment. This would typically include a division approved bat, helmet and glove. Although we do provide some equipment (i.e. catchers gear), we do suggest players use their own items for hygiene purposes.
  • Is there a requirement of what my child needs to wear?
When you register your child, he/she will be provided a shirt and hat. We also encourage players to wear baseball pants, cleats and very importantly a heart guard and cup as appropriate.
  • Do I have to volunteer?
During the registration process, you will be advised of your volunteer options. Typically, Howell South LL encourages all families to volunteer two shifts at the snack stand or assist with field maintenance days. However, we do understand that schedules are busy, so we do offer an "opt out" option.
  • I want to help coach my child's team!
Great! Howell South LL encourages all parents/grandparents, etc. to get involved and we would love to have you coach. Please see our Coaching Information page in order to complete the necessary player safety paperwork to become an approved coach!
